RCC18 Halloween Kitty

Hey everyone! It's Tuesday which means.....a new Ribbon Carousel challenge!  And you know I love the sponsor this week....Jessica Knutsen and There She Goes Clear Stamps!  This week, for RCC18, Jessica is challenging us to use more than one spooled item.
And coincidentally,Jessica is heading the TSG122 challenge this week as well.  The TSG challenge is to make a One-Layer-Card (OLC) and POP up your image.  So I decided to combine the challenges and this is what I came up with.....

I did a 1/4" border around my card base, added a sneak peek ribbon from the new "Monthly Ribbon Kit" that will debut right on the RCC page and in the Ribbon Carousel store next week. (Announcement to be made next TUESDAY!) The baker's twine is the second spool item for the challenge.

I popped up the little halloween kitty from the Cattitude stamp set, paper-piecing with 3 different papers, and put it on top of a Midnight Felt Shape from CTMH.
The We R Memory Keepers brad was a bit dull, so I decorated it with some CTMH bling.  And voila, I'm getting ready for the holiday season to begin!  We'd love you to join us at both challenges...so go get crafty, and we'll see you back here later this week.

The Light is on...

Hey everyone! Hope you had a GREAT weekend! It's Monday, which means it's time for a new There She Goes challenge (TSG122).  AND this week, Lydia, SCS Community Manager is the Featured Stamper (FS238), so I decided to combine the challenges. This week our featured Trendsetter and "da boss", Jessica, is challenging us to create a one layer card with POP by using dimensional to pop up all or part of your image.

So I perused Lydia's gallery and found THIS CARD to CASE.  I changed the orientation of the card, the images, paper pieced the lamps and added some twine.
And here's the fabulous inside...
Ba dum dum! The stamp set is TSG Lighten Up and the paper is Basic Grey Out of Print.  I had so much fun making it, that I made a few more....

What's terrible is that you can't see the LIGHT SHINING in those pics, but believe me, you can in real life.  Here's a bit better shot:
Wanna make one too? Here's a little template that shows you how I made the "light shine":
Hope you have a great day and see you tomorrow for a new Ribbon Carousel Challenge.

TSG118 Summer Hibiscus

Hey everyone!  Yours truly is the Trendsetter of the Week this week on the There She Goes Blog!! Woo Hoo!  So for TSG118, I'm challenging everyone to make a summer inspired card.
I used Graphic 45's On the Boardwalk and perhaps got a little carried away.I stamped the two Hibiscus flowers and leaves from the TSG Hibiscus stamp set on the DP and fussy cut. For a little dimension, I put Adirondack's Dimensional Pearls in Espresso on the stamen. I used 7, count 'em SEVEN, different papers on this one card! Oh yeah, that's gotta be a record for me.
I used the CPS229 sketch and gotta say, this is not in my "norm" for a card, but I do like the way it turned out.  I am also entering this card in Christina's Distressing "Dare to Get Dirty" Challenge over at Splitcoast. I distressed all of the papers with PTI Chai ink and wet the corners of the paper to roll. The Dare to Get Dirty challenges last all week, so go join the Fan Club and get dirty!

Be sure to join me this week over at There She Goes and make a summer card!  To be eligible for the $5 gift certificate, just create a card that celebrates Summer, and then go to the TSG Blog to add your name and a link to your project in the InLinkz that is located at the bottom of this challenge post. This challenge is open until the winner has been announced on the following Monday (August 8). The winner will get a $5 gift certificate to use in the TSG Web store!

By participating in this challenge, you may also find yourself in the Trendsetting Spotlight that shines on the TSG Blog every Thursday. We will be on the look out to find challenge cards that stand out and show Trendsetting qualities. Did you know I pick these? Yup, that's me perusing the TSG entries each week.  :D

Birthday Blast and TSG102

Hey everyone!!  Like I promised yesterday, here is the card that is inside the box! ( I couldn't post it yesterday, cuz the TSG challenge starts today. :D )

Marisa has challenged us to use VELLUM somewhere on our creations this week.  WELL, I decided to make EVERYTHING I added out of Velum (background DP excluded of course).
I must say this card was a bit of a challenge, in that I didn't use a sketch.  I wanted the astronaut to be floating over Earth, so I just kinda winged it. Both images are from the TSG Out of This World stamp set. The "Happy Birthday" sentiment is from the TSG "My Little Friend" set.
The inside sentiment is stamped on vellum as well, and comes from the Out of This World stamp set.

I stamped everything in StazOn Black.  Then I colored the vellum pieces with my Copics. The trick here is to color quickly and in one swoop.  No dilly dallying and no second passes, or it makes a horrible mess.
I then set the vellum with Creative Imagination's Super Seal.   This is the BEST Sealant Spray I have found and I just LOVE it.

I used more of the Bo Bunny Blast Off! Paper that I fell in love with.  This pattern is my FAVORITE!  I have looked at the stars almost nightly for many, many years, and how cool would it be to have that little alien in our galaxy. :D  That's it for me today.  I'll see you tomorrow for another pretty card. (The butterflies are drying as we speak. :D )

TSG98 Have A Happy Day!

Hey everyone! Hope you enjoyed a nice weekend and that you're not too tired from "springing ahead". :D  In honor of spring, I thought I'd make a nice bright card for Danielle's sketch challenge over at There She Goes this week using ColourQ's springy colors.

And here's my "springy" card using the "Happy Day" stamp set.
Now, here's a little quiz....how many stamps did I use to make this card?.......only 2! Can you believe it?  I love this stamp set and was so happy to finally ink it up! :D  My son is home from college for Spring Break, and I've not seen him since September so I'm gonna cut this short.  Have a great day!

TSG97 Wrapped Up!

Hey everyone! Hope you've had a great week.  I am feeling GR-EAT! (Tony the Tiger great...hee hee hee)  Well, here's a little eye candy and a call to let you know you still have time to enter the Monday challenge over at There She Goes! This week, the challenge is to stamp on something OTHER THAN PAPER.  So I got some of Claudia Hellmuth's Sticky Back Canvas from my LSS, Toadilly Scrappin, and got to work.

First I stamped the images from the TSG Hauntingly Delightful with Memento Tuxedo Black.   I cut them out and then pulled the edges to create the frayed looks, then I colored them with Copics (E41, T00).I added some Glossy Accents to the eyes and let them dry and voila!  I am loving how these little guys turned out! :D
I started with this week's sketch over at The Studio Challenges.  And........drum roll please......
 TA-DA!!

Have a great weekend everyone and maybe I'll see ya again before then.... :D

Hey everyone! Today is Monday so you know what that means.....There She Goes Challenge Day!! Megan Lock, our Guest Trendie, has issued a color challenge:
I love this combination!  So soft and pretty.

I used two TSG stamp sets...the first, Sentimental for the sentiment, and the second, Love, for the flourish image stamped in Vintage Cream hybrid ink on the kraft label.  That little detail made such a huge difference. And here's the card:

And here's the same card with an African American girl.

TSG90 Wet Embossing Challenge!

Hey y'all!  Hope you had a good weekend! I for one have been super busy. I'm playing hostess at There She Goes this week, so I'll be doing LOTS of fun stuff between here and there! First up for today, the TSG Challenge.

There are several techniques that are essential for stampers to have in their arsenal, and this week I want to make sure that Wet Embossing is one of them for each of you! Pull out your heat gun along with some embossing powders and get busy! You can emboss a solid image on your creation, emboss an outlined image and watercolor it, or showcase another wet embossing technique…your choices are endless!

And here's my card....
I used the Puppy Love Stamp set to make a fun card. I embossed the paw prints in clear over the red cardstock.  See how the pads of the pawprint are hearts? And there is a nice texture pattern on the pawprint as well that shows up nicely.

I embossed the main image, a pawprint inside the heart and sentiment. I used my favorite coloring method, Copics, as per the Pixie Cottage challenge this week.  COPIC TIP: Don't use copics! (The alcohol in the Copic markers moves the color out of the embossing and into your project. Experience speaking here. :(  Best to watercolor....)
Then, instead of sewing, I embossed  the cross-stiches from the In Stitches stamp set.  It is a great way to get the raised look of a stitch without using a sewing machine.
I used the CPS201 Sketch and Mona's CR84FN11 color challenge.  I'll also be using this card as my DT sample for Pile It On's "Anything Goes" Challenge this week.

To be eligible for the TSG giveaway, you are to create a card that utilizes wet embossing techniques, and then come back to the TSG Blog to add your name and a link to your project in the InLinkz that is located at the bottom of this challenge post. This challenge is open until the winner has been announced on the following Monday (Jan 24th). The winner will get a $5 gift certificate to use in the TSG Web store!

TSG89 Color Challenge and a Sweetheart Sneak Peek!

Winter is in full swing, but this week Julie has a color combination that is guaranteed to lift your spirits! We can’t wait to see what you come up with!

I just received new papers from Close to My Heart, aptly named Sweetheart, that fit into this challenge PERFECTLY! (Dontcha love it when that happens?!) The paper was so perfect I didn't want to cover it up or do much of anything to it! I added a heart with "I Love You" from the new TSG Sentimental Stamp Set.
I added some Licorice Opaques and that's it.  A quick 10 minute card that only took me about 6 hours to come up with......Bwahahahaha.  Oh go ahead, admit it, you know you do it to!

I used Jen's new January Sketch For You To Try (SFYTT) as a jumping off point.
