How it's made...Wanna Hang-Out?

Today's card is soooo cute! I thought I'd show you how it's made just for kicks and giggles....

First, I picked out the cutest stamp set that I'm sooooo lovin' from There She Goes. It's called Loads of Fun. I picked a cute image and sentiment and went to work. I stamped the image twice, once on scrap cardstock to make a mask, once on a cardstock cut and embossed with a square Nestie.

Next, cut out the mask.

Using removable adhesive, adhere the mask. Love this adhesive.

Using a scrap piece of cardstock, I covered the edges that I wanted to remain white as a frame. Then using the daubers from the CTMH distressing kit, sponge CTMH Crystal Blue ink for the sky, Indian Corn Blue as sky density. OK, so I forgot to take a pic of sponging the grass, but I placed the negative image of the mask in place and used Sweet Leaf ink for grass/ground.

Next, get ready to pull your hair out! I stamped the clothesline again on CTMH Twitterpated patterned paper (and since I was at it, I did some on CTMH Topstitch papers too) and cut them out. These images are soooo tiny.

Then I adhered them, colored in the clothesline with my COPICS.

Adhere the focal image on the card and it's finished! The sentiment on the stamp set was too small for the 5x7 card, so I found a font on my computer that was close to Jessica's stamp set sentiment font and printed it. I love this card and there was TONS of lovin' put into it too!!

Hope that shows you the steps...well the ones that i remembered to photograph! Oopsie.

I'm entering this card in a bunch of challenges. This is my first time doing challenges! WOO HOO I'm getting internet savy.... here are the links: Pile It On Challenge - Warm Wishes, Die Cuts R Us - Ribbon, A spoon Full of Sugar - Freestyle, Incy Wincy Designs - Ribbon, ABC Challenge - M is for Masking, Cooking it up with Katie - New Prod (brand new stamp and paper actually), Non-Human Image, Texture

Feelin' Dirty?

This was a little surprise that I sent to Riley, who's still in Iraq, in the mail. He was having a couple rough days and the card arrived to remind him that he is loved here at home. No package, no hoopla, just a little card to say "hi honey".

Stamps: There She Goes (TSG)
Cardstock and buttons: Stampin' Up

Complete recipes for both days cards to be posted tomorrow. Lots of computer work to do! :-))

Ciao for now,

There's No Place Like Home

Today's card for Riley is a small note card. I love these little houses. They remind me and hopefully, Ri, that we'll be in our home in less than 3 weeks! WOO HOO!! :-))

I'll be adding the recipe tomorrow. Gotta get this up tonight. Enjoy!

Struck by Love

I love Valentine's Day for the first time in my life! I have a man. Yup. And he gets home from Iraq on what day????? VALENTINE'S DAY!! Now that is the best gift a girl could get!

I made Riley 19 cards as a "countdown" for his flight off base to Kuwait and then on to me. One card for each day he's traveling before his flight to D.C., then one for each hour on the plane, and the last one for his flight to Syracuse. The envies are labeled for him to open at the appropriate time. So I'll be sharing a card a day till he returns since one every hour on the 13th might be a little much. hee hee

Cardstock:Prisma, Close to My Heart
Jenni Bowlin, Creative Imagination
Stamps: B1327 Struck by Love
Close to My Heart, B1297 Heartfelt Close to My Heart
Ink/Markers: CTMH Black, Versamark Embossing Ink, Copic 100 Black
Accessories: CTMH Mini Medley Pewter
Spellbinders Label 1 Nesties, CTMH Silver Pearl, Red, Black embossing powders

I hope he likes it! Please stop by my comment section and tell me what ya think. ;-)

Word of the Year

GOOD MORNING! Ok, that was kinda loud, but I'm yoga'd, coffee'd and showered. Come on people, get with the program!! lol

On many blogs that I look at, there is a tradition of picking a "Word of the Year". This word is to describe what your focus for the year will be and then you try to actualize that word into all aspects of your life. So I've been thinking about this for some time now, and have chosen a word.

My "2010 Word of the Year" is Evolve.

/ɪˈvɒlv/ Show Spelled Pronunciation [i-volv] Show IPA verb, e⋅volved, e⋅volv⋅ing.–verb (used with object)

to develop gradually: to evolve a plan.

Countdown Flowers sent from my best friend and future husband! WOO HOO

OK, this might be a little sappy, but I LOVE MY Ri! So, he surprised me today with flowers celebrating our 4 week countdown till his return from Iraq.

The card says, "28 days and counting......x3"

Riley is so thoughtful, so caring, so good to me. He loves me for who I am. Not for who I "could be", not for who I "want to be", but simply for who I am right this very moment. And that, my friends, is the kindest thing a man can do for a woman. Although flowers are a close second.....hee hee!

Surprise...Love Flamingos

LOOK at the beautifully quirky flamingos that Riley's mom, Nancy sent to me!!! awwwww.....

Aren't they just adorable....I love flamingos....I mean, I love them and want a plastic one in my yard (still negotiating that with Riley, hee hee). I am so grateful and thankful for how Nancy has just accepted me as a new family member (future daughter-in-law)....she is so funny, loving, caring and well....not your typical mother-in-law. She's raced cars, paints and loves the artsy-fartsy stuff, has an amazingly cheeky sense of humor, and loves her family soooooo much.

So THANK YOU Nancy and I can't wait to meet you too! ;-)

You're a STAR!

I love this new paper and matching stamp sets from Close to My Heart! Gorgeous, affordable, faster, simpler, easier! Doesn't get any better than that. So here is my swap card comin' at ya my 40 fab swap sistas!

I'm working on my blog later this week. Will have deets and posts then. :-)

It's Springtime!

Well, maybe it's not actually Springtime, but the new Spring Close to My Heart catalog is full of new, beautiful stamp sets, paper and accessories. Here are my swap items for Miyuki's consultant swap. I always try to highlight a trend or technique and here, I'm demonstrating paper-piecing and coloring with ink and a blender pen.

The stamp set "Springtime" D1415 is adorable! The new patterned paper is called Veranda X7119 and the Creative Basics Veranda Collection x5809 which includes the beautiful Creme Brulee grosgrain stiched edged ribbon. The card pattern is called Circle Collection (p. 29) from "Wishes".

Now I know most people would use that umbrella the traditional way, but I just thought those adorable duckies deserved a ride! :-) Leave me a comment and let me know what you think!

This is my son Ian playing his guitar. I have never seen someone work so hard and be so dedicated to a new interest. He can play and practice for hours and hours. He truly is an inspiration. Stamps and paper are retired CTMH. Ephemera from Ian's garbage can. lol

(Just a little diversion.....back to the swap cards.)
